Wheeling used to be a great spot to use as a staging area for photo expeditions. It is central to a lot of unusual locations and had a lot going for it as an urban center. Unfortunately, as I learned on my last trip there, nothing lasts forever. It seems that a large mall was built across the river in Ohio and downtown Wheeling was drained of life. All that is really left is boarded up buildings and a memory. At least I enjoyed the area when it was still vital - I’ll go back but it is a sad journey.
